Flower Power: 70’s Florals Make a Comeback

Published: April 27th, 2015

In a whoosh of 70’s nostalgia, those big and bold florals and vivid colors we associate with that era are back in a big way. Modern and stylized, they lend a timeless sense of optimism, glitz and glamour to our homes and our attire. I guess fashion follows the national psyche. Perhaps the end of the Great Recession, like the winding down of the Vietnam War and Watergate in the 70’s, evokes a sense of relief and renewal best symbolized by florals.

Whatever the reason, the resurgence is striking. Here’s a fun look at how 70’s fashion is being translated into present day furnishings and fashion accessories.  Hard to know which is 1970 and which is 2015!

Here are some contemporary takes on 70s florals that caught my fancy.
