Interior Design that’s Sitting Pretty: You’re My Special Chair
Published: October 29th, 2012
Most of us have a “special chair,” — one that feels oh-so-comfortable and looks smashing. While shopping at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart , I came upon my new favorite, the Lana Club Chair at Donghia.
Sleek and beautiful, this chair oozes character and personality. As Alina Wheeler, a well-known branding expert, says, “Design is intelligence made visible,” and this is intelligent design. It’s simple, understated lines can mix equally well with both contemporary and traditional schemes, while the rounded back and arms subtly refer to the popular and classic Klismos chair:
Henry David Thoreau once said: “I had three chairs in my house; one for solitude, two for friendship, three for society.” The swivel on the Lana Club Chair would have made ole’ Henry David’s choice much simpler, allowing the chair to stand alone or address multiple seating groups. In fact, I can see a pair of these opposite a sofa or a group of three around a low, round coffee table. Dress it up in silk velvet or let it go casual in wool or linen. Either way, this is one of the hot new items in the interior design world.
So go find your special chair, with a little encouragement from Pee Wee Herman. Enjoy!
